Welcome to the Nishi-Kasai English Worship Service homepage

NEWS disbands

I've been putting this off for 2 months, but ... here goes ...
After a short but adventurous 20 months, NEWS has disbanded.

Kentaro, newly graduated from Jesus-To-Japan,  and his Beth are transitioning into leading the internationally-flavored traditional church in Nishi-Kasai.  David and Mayumi are attending another house church close to their home in Matsudo, where Dave's enormous Takamine gets a weekly workout.

Yours truly will be keeping this Web site up for the meantime, but I don't expect to be updating content.

Occasional quote(s):

Democracy is a value laden institution. It consciously promotes individual freedom, self rule, and equality and these values in turn affect the way we look at the world. America, especially, has seen an increased emphasis placed on individual freedom, the ability to choose one's own destiny, with its right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit happiness" often to the detriment of social responsibility.
These values affect the way we look at the world and produce an anti-hierarchical and anti-authoritarian zeitgeist as the power resides with the people.

2003.6.7 NEWS: English Fellowship has moved to Nishi Kasai

As of June 22, 2003 the English fellowship began meeting in the premises of Nishi Kasai International Evangelical Church (3-2-6 Nishi-Kasai, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo, Tel. 03-3869-8051, map) at 3pm on Sundays.  The move will make us more accessible for the English-speaking members of our church family, comprised mostly of people outside the Urayasu area.
We're also hoping to have a small group meeting in the Shin-Urayasu station area during the week.  For information on the English-speaking fellowship, please contact David Hawley by email or by telephone at 090-930-39838/047-384-6692 for details.  Thanks!

The Japanese fellowship, Urayasu International Christ Church, continues to meet near Shin-Urayasu station, usually in the Meiji Seimei building adjoining the station on the seaward side.  Please contact the church at 047-354-4582 for up-to-date information.
