Do-It-Yourself Prayer Meeting

Notes
- We make a number of copies of the agenda, copies of the songs, prayer
requests, etc. from a Word template.
- The bible readings are in three streams: Psalms, Old Testament and New
Testament; we take up where we left off the previous time in each one of
these three areas.
E.g. cycle through the Psalms from 1-150, run through the OT from (Joshua is
where we started), and do the whole NT.
- We typically read around the circle of people who have come, 3 verses at
a time.
- Songs are sung if we meet somewhere that's practical; we read them when
we are at a restaurant. We use copies of our praise OHPs (low tech, I
know).
- The person who is leading usually prepares a list of things to pray for,
as they are usually long-term issues. Then people add other requests
as they felt led.
- The schedule is a rough guide to the time allocation; the only thing we
make sure is not to run overtime so people can keep their other commitments.
Well, there you go. Its not particularly fancy - anyone can lead it.
Simplicity is why its worked for us after original members moved on.
We originally met in a church building, but now we meet at Jonathan's
restaurant near Meikai University in Urayasu.
[An interesting witness, doing church without the walls!]
So keep the faith!
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (Col
4:2)
