1 Peter 2:13-25 Authority and the Christian
- Author: Peter the apostle, probably dictated to Silas (aka Silvanus)
- Date: early 60s, encouraging believers during persecution of Nero
(when Peter was martyred).
Peter has been telling us how to live together as the holy people of God,
and that as God's people we are witnesses of His goodness. Now he
continues to apply the example of Christ to our relationship to the world.

- What term describes a Christian's basic attitude towards authority?
- What is the proper role of authority?
- Peter is talking about authority in the era of Nero, who persecuted
Christians and martyred the apostle.
- Do incompetent and evil authorities exist?
- What should be our basic attitude towards such authorities? Why?
- What is the role of faith in submission to authority?
- Think of examples in your life where you are under authority.
